El Método Silva de Control Mental fue ideado por José Silva, un mexicano residente en Laredo (USA) quien, tomando como base libros de autoayuda, confeccionó un método heterogéneo donde mezcla desde técnicas de memorización basadas en los libros de Harry Loraine, hasta ejercicios de visualización creativa inspirados en autores como el ocultista francés Ophiel o el norteamericano William Walker Atkinson (Yogui Ramacharaka).
